Notes and Updates from SAP

As mentioned in the previous SAP Payroll Insights, year-end processing is not over for everyone - if you have a US payroll be sure to stay up to date on everything via note 2683055. This is the main note for US year-end and has a lot of good links to other resources. One of those resources is the year-end blog from SAP, another good source of changes and news. There are three cumulative notes - Phase I, II and III - as well as smaller corrections, user guides and the like; all are great resources. And there is a recent important note that corrects some issues with the Puerto Rico electronic filing/mag media process – see note 2743323.

The implementation of Washington state’s new Paid Family & Medical Leave tax has been a bit rocky. If you have employees in Washington, take a look at note 2722361 to get started, and follow the trail of corrections from there. A lot has been delivered via support packs, but there is still significant and important manual configuration customers need to do to make this work.

SAP has released a new payroll utility called the Payroll Results Dashboard. It’s not really a dashboard, more like a much-improved and expanded version of the existing payroll results cluster display program. It’s not a tool I would release to end-users, but it could certainly be useful for power-users and IT analysts. Two things I like about it – each table is displayed via an ALV Grid so we can easily manipulate the contents and export Excel, and I can display tables from multiple periods together (show wagetype /101 from the RT for the last 10 payroll periods, for example). The transaction is HR99S00_PY_DASHBOARD, the program name is RPUCVRX, and the IMG configuration path is Payroll International > Reuse Tools > Payroll Results Dashboard. There are a few correction notes issued recently, but they aren’t needed if you just want to give it a test drive to determine if it would be useful for your company.

Around the Web

Did you know you can now Ask An Expert at SAP’s support site? In the HCM space you can ask questions about SAP SuccessFactors EC, Learning, Onboarding and Recruiting. Of course, if you have an SAP or EC Payroll question, you can ask us.

In a previous SAP Payroll Insights issue we explained that SAP and Kronos have partnered up to offer SAP Time Management by Kronos for those who are on the Employee Central platform. Here’s more analysis and perspective on that from UpperEdge – well worth the reading.

The NLRB in the US is revising some tests for the independent contractor status, apparently in favor of contractors?

Here's a good list of IRS and SSA announcements for US payroll customers, from the American Payroll Association.

Remember - SAP Insider is presenting a conference under the new title of HR Innovations 2019. It's in Las Vegas, March 19-21. I'm presenting two sessions on payroll: How to manage global payroll and the future of pay, and Building a business case for Employee Central Payroll. Use this link to get $550 off the admission fee, up through February 22 (after that it's just a $300 discount).
